1 Chronicles 29:10-11
Blessed are you, O LORD, the God of Israel our father, forever and ever. Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and you are exalted as head above all.
Scripture Reading: Psalm 70
Psalm 70 is a cry for urgent help: “Make haste, O God, to deliver me!” In contrast, 1 Chronicles 29 declares God’s eternal rule, power, and glory. Together, they reveal two essential truths of faith: God is both near to the needy and exalted above all. We pray for deliverance while praising His unshakable sovereignty. David, in his final prayer, praised the Lord not for personal blessing, but for God’s eternal kingship and majesty. When we feel weak and desperate like the psalmist, we look up and remember the greatness of our God and His amazing love demonstrated in sending Jesus Christ (John 3:16; Rom. 5:8). He is able, present, and worthy. Our hope is grounded not in our circumstances, but in the One who reigns forever.
The worship songs we will sing together on Sunday beautifully reinforce the truth that God is sovereign, faithful, and near. All Creatures (Sing the Harmony) invites all creation into harmony under the Creator’s rule. Christ is Mine Forevermore assures us that even in suffering, we belong to a King who walks with us. Lord, I Need You echoes Psalm 70’s cry for help, reminding us that God’s grace meets us in our daily weakness. And Always declares God’s unchanging presence through every season. These songs remind us that our cries and our praise belong together. We lift our voices not because life is easy, but because our God reigns and never leaves us.

Reflection Questions:
1. How does remembering God’s sovereignty affect the way you pray in seasons of trouble or waiting?
2. Which truth from the worship songs or Scriptures most encouraged you today, and why?
Prayer:
Father, You are exalted above all, yet You draw near to those who call on You in truth. Help me live each day in the tension of both desperate dependence and confident praise. Remind me that even when I feel weak, Your power and purpose remain. Let my prayers be honest, my worship wholehearted, and my trust firmly rooted in Your eternal kingship. I declare: Yours is the greatness, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.
