Forgiven and Victorious in Christ
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Scripture Reading – Psalm 86
Confession is not about wallowing in guilt—it’s about running to the God who is rich in mercy. Psalm 86 reminds us that God is “good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon him.” When we confess, we’re not hoping for forgiveness but claiming the forgiveness already secured in Christ. God’s justice demands sin be dealt with, and in Jesus it has been fully satisfied. The promise of 1 John 1:9 assures us that confession is always met with cleansing, not condemnation. Like the psalmist, we can call upon the Lord with confidence, knowing that He not only hears us but delights to show mercy. Confession restores intimacy with God and renews joy in His steadfast love.
Worship often helps us grasp truths Scripture declares. You’ve Already Won reminds us that the battle with sin and death is finished in Christ. Alas And Did My Savior Bleed draws us back to the place where forgiveness was won and grace poured out. All Glory Be to Christ directs our eyes away from our efforts and toward His eternal reign, reminding us that only what is done in Him endures. Your Great Name celebrates Jesus’ power to heal, restore, and save. Together, these songs reinforce what 1 John 1:9 and Psalm 86 declare: God is faithful to forgive, Christ has secured the victory, and we live now to glorify His great name. Our worship becomes both gratitude for what He has done and confidence for what He continues to do.

Prayer: Lord, I confess my sins before You and thank You for the promise that You forgive and cleanse me. Help me believe that my failures do not define me, but Your mercy does. Teach me to walk in the joy of forgiveness, free from shame, and focused on glorifying You. May my life be a song of gratitude to Jesus, who has already won the victory and made me new by His great name. Amen.
