Prayer and Worship
Matthew 6:9-13
Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name; Thy kingdom come; thy will be done; On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, The power and the glory, Forever. Amen.
Scripture Reading – Psalm 98
Have you ever asked the question: “how do I pray” or “how should I worship God?” Jesus teaches us to pray beginning with God’s character—His holiness, His kingdom, His will. The Lord’s Prayer grounds us in dependence: daily bread, forgiveness, protection, and deliverance. It reminds us that prayer isn’t about informing God but aligning our hearts with His reign. Psalm 98 calls all creation to break forth in joyful praise because the Lord is righteous, mighty, and faithful to His people. When these passages sit together, they shape us into worshippers who trust God’s goodness and seek His kingdom first. In a world of distraction and self-reliance, they invite us back to a simple, beautiful truth: God is worthy of our reverence, our trust, and our joyful obedience.
The songs we sing together this Sunday reinforce the heartbeat of Jesus’ prayer. The Lord’s Prayer (It’s Yours) reminds us that all authority, power, and glory belong to God alone—echoing Jesus’ words. Build My Life calls us to shape every part of our lives around God’s holiness and love, aligning with “Your kingdom come, Your will be done.” Jesus Paid It Allanchors us in the forgiveness the Lord’s Prayer teaches us to both receive and extend. Lord, I Need You gives voice to our daily dependence, much like asking for daily bread and deliverance from temptation. Together, these songs train our hearts toward trust, surrender, and worship—helping us live the prayer Jesus taught in both rhythm and truth.

Reflection Questions:
1. Which part of the Lord’s Prayer do you most need to pray today—dependence, forgiveness, obedience, or trust?
2. How do worship songs shape your understanding of God and redirect your heart during the week?
Prayer: Father, hallowed be Your name. Shape my heart to desire Your kingdom above my own plans. Provide what I need today, and teach me to walk in both humility and trust. Forgive my sins, and help me forgive others as freely as You have forgiven me. Strengthen me against temptation and deliver me from anything that pulls me away from You. Let my life become a song of praise that reflects Your goodness. Amen.
