February 6, 2026 – Our Greatest Treasure
Philippians 3:8
Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake, I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ…
Scripture Reading – Proverbs 3
In Philippians 3:8, Paul makes a startling claim: everything he once considered valuable now feels like loss compared to knowing Christ. His words echo the wisdom of Proverbs 3, where we are urged not to lean on our own understanding and not to prize riches or self-made security above the Lord. Proverbs repeatedly reminds us that wisdom is more valuable than silver or gold because it leads not just to success, but to life. Possessions promise control, comfort, and status, yet they cannot guide our steps or heal our hearts. True wisdom begins when we recognize that what we gain in Christ far outweighs what we could ever accumulate on our own. Knowing God reshapes how we view success, security, and what it truly means to live well.
The songs we sing help train our hearts toward this wisdom. God So Loved reminds us that our worth is not something we earn or buy; it is given freely through Christ. Christ Is Mine Forevermore anchors our hope not in temporary success, but in an eternal belonging that cannot be lost. Holy Again and Again lifts our eyes beyond what fades, calling us to worship the God who remains faithful in every season. And Be Thou My Vision captures the heart of Proverbs 3, asking God to be our true treasure, wisdom, and guiding light. Together, these songs teach us that joy, security, and meaning are not found in possessions but in a life centered on Christ, where He alone shapes our vision and desires.

Reflection Questions:
1. What possessions, goals, or achievements are most tempting for you to trust for security or identity?
2. How can you pursue Christ as your greatest treasure this week?
Prayer: Lord, I confess how easily I place my hope in things that cannot last. Teach me to value wisdom over wealth and relationship with You over all else. Help me trust You with my plans, my future, and my desires. Shape my heart so that Christ becomes my greatest joy and treasure. Lead me in Your paths, and let my life reflect a deeper love for You than for anything this world offers. Amen.
