April 10, 2026 – Worship in Every Circumstance
Psalm 96:1–4
Oh sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth!
Sing to the LORD, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day.
Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!
For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; he is to be feared above all gods.
Scripture Reading – Mark 9:2-13; Acts 12:1-5
In Psalms 96:1–4, we are called to “sing to the Lord a new song,” declaring His glory among the nations. This call to worship is grounded in who God is—great and greatly to be praised. In Gospel of Mark 9:2–13, the disciples glimpse that glory in the transfiguration of Jesus. The veil is pulled back, and Christ is revealed in radiant majesty. Yet in Acts of the Apostles 12:1–5, we see a different scene—persecution, imprisonment, and suffering. Together, these passages remind us that God is worthy of praise both in revealed glory and in hidden struggle. Whether on the mountaintop or in the prison cell, His greatness does not change. Our calling is the same: to worship, trust, and proclaim His name in every season.
Songs like Christ Be Magnified and Behold Him lift our eyes to the glory of Christ, echoing the awe of the transfiguration. They invite us to see Him rightly: exalted above all and worthy of our praise. Living Hope anchors us in the truth that this glorious Christ is also our risen Savior, securing victory over sin and death even when life feels uncertain, like in Acts 12. Meanwhile, Rock of Ages reminds us that our confidence is not in ourselves but in Christ alone, our unshakable refuge. Together, these songs teach us to magnify Jesus in every circumstance, whether we are standing in awe of His glory or clinging to Him in hardship, trusting that He alone is our hope and salvation.

Reflection Questions:
1. How does seeing both the glory of Christ and the reality of suffering shape your understanding of worship?
2. In what current circumstance do you need to more intentionally magnify Christ?
Prayer:
Lord, You are great and greatly to be praised, whether I see Your glory clearly or walk through seasons of difficulty. Help me to fix my eyes on Jesus, the One who is both exalted and near. Teach me to worship You in every circumstance and to trust Your purposes, even when they are hidden. Strengthen my faith so that my life magnifies Christ, and anchor my hope firmly in Him alone. Amen.
