Joyful Worship
Psalm 95:1–3
Oh come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.
Scripture Reading – Luke 8:1-3; 24:1-12
Psalm 95 calls us to joyful, reverent worship, “let us sing…let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.” He is not distant; He is the great King and our Shepherd. In Luke 8 and 24, we see this truth embodied in the women who follow Jesus. They support His ministry, remain near in suffering, and are the first witnesses to the empty tomb. Their worship is not confined to words, it is expressed in devotion, generosity, and faithful presence. Even when confused and afraid, they run to the disciples with resurrection news. True worship, then, is both exalting God’s greatness and walking in faithful response. We sing because He is worthy, and we follow because He is risen.
These songs echo that same movement of worship. Come Christians Join and Sing calls us to lift our voices together, reminding us worship is communal and joyful. All I Have Is Christ centers our hearts on the gospel, part from Him we were lost, but now we live for His glory. Only a Holy God magnifies God’s uniqueness and worth, stirring awe like Psalm 95. Before the Throne of God Above anchors us in Christ’s finished work, giving confidence to draw near. And Come Thou Fount humbly acknowledges our tendency to wander, while pleading for grace to stay near. Together, these songs teach us that worship is not just singing, it is a life shaped by grace, sustained by Christ, and directed toward God’s glory.

Reflection Questions:
1. How does knowing God as both King and Shepherd shape the way you worship Him?
2. In what ways can your daily life reflect the kind of faithful devotion seen in Luke 8 and 24?
Prayer: Lord, You are the great King and my faithful Shepherd. You are worthy of my praise and my life. Too often my worship stays in words instead of action, draw my heart closer to You. Like the women who followed You, give me faithfulness, courage, and joy in every season. Fix my eyes on Christ, my only hope, and keep me near You when I am prone to wander. Let my life reflect Your glory. Amen.
