Psalm 92:1–2
It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praises to your name, O Most High; to declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness by night…
Scripture Reading – Luke 10:38-42, John 11:17-37
Psalm 92 reminds us that it is good to praise the LORD and proclaim His steadfast love in the morning and His faithfulness at night. Worship is not meant to be occasional; it is meant to shape the rhythm of our lives. In Luke 10, Martha was distracted by many responsibilities while Mary chose to sit at Jesus’ feet and listen. Jesus did not condemn service, but He showed that abiding with Him must come first. In John 11, we again see Martha and Mary grieving the death of Lazarus, yet Jesus meets them with compassion, truth, and tears. These passages remind us that Jesus desires both our worship and our trust. Whether in busy moments or painful ones, we are invited to slow down, draw near to Christ, and rest in His faithful presence.
The chorus of “Step By Step” reminds us that following God is a daily walk of dependence and obedience. We do not need to know every step ahead because the Lord faithfully leads His people one day at a time. “Open the Eyes of My Heart” echoes Mary’s posture at Jesus’ feet by asking God to help us truly see Him: His holiness, glory, and presence. “Abide” calls us to remain connected to Christ, reminding us that peace, strength, and fruitfulness come from staying near to Him rather than striving on our own. Finally, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” points us to the comfort Jesus gave Martha and Mary in their grief. He is not distant from our struggles. He welcomes our burdens, hears our prayers, and walks with us through every season with compassion and faithfulness.

Reflection Questions:
- What distractions most often keep you from simply sitting with Jesus and listening to Him?
- How can you intentionally remember and proclaim God’s faithfulness throughout your day this week?
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for Your steadfast love and faithfulness that never fail. Too often I become distracted, anxious, or overwhelmed by responsibilities and forget to simply be with You. Help me to slow down and sit at Your feet like Mary, trusting You in every season. Open the eyes of my heart so I may see You more clearly and walk closely with You step by step. Teach me to abide in Your presence daily and bring every burden to You in prayer. Amen.
